11/22 A day without Turkey is a day without life smothered in Gravy
SEM
Pushing on, let us put Motivational factors to rest and move to Product Positioning and image/branding.
Let us start by covering "What is your image/brand?"
What is it you say? Let us learn here.
So knowing a bit more of the terms, is a brand what you say? or is a brand what they say?
Tha positioning aspect is the "making room" in the hearts and monds of the people. As I once read, positioning is the foundation of the brand, but it isn't the brand itself. Positioning allows for the individual, group, village, culture to fill in the vacancy/vacuum with what they know or are told. It allows the company to "start anew" to reach the preference and action levels of motivation.

A short story in Price Anchoring...Culture anchoring. Cultural bias - what is it?
A preface of what we buy and why.
Are we ethical? We have been through the writings of ourselves, talked incessantly about our decisions and where we think we are as a human being and of our place in this world. Today I wish to change even that fabric of reality. The only thing I ask is that you are open to this new idea.
We will begin our day with a little video. Though linked here, allow me to illustrate it on the big screen. - Dan Ariely - Our Buggy Moral Code {16 min}
Take away?
Once more we visit with Dan Ariely in his discussion of our Consumer Buying Decisions. Do we really make up our own minds? or do we allow other to essentially make our minds up for us, especially with harder decisions? This sense of "preference" is something that for common place things/known things we have. But what if we move you past the mundane and take you to a decision you have never made? What will you choose? This small tidbit should show us.
And taking this further, allow us then to talk about self deception...truly the hallmark of our own psyche. All of this through the power of performance and a bit of magic.

- To answer the title, soon. I will return on Friday.
- Today you get a movie as promised, but as stated below, it is my choice of a movie.
- Welcome to Food, Inc, a delightful movie outlining the processing of our entire food system.
- SEM, pay careful attention to the elements of an event. Expand your understanding that virtually anything can be considered an event.
- HSM, think back to chapter pasts where we discussed Environmental Scanning. In that chaptwer, we discussed there are governmental forces out there dictating what and how we can alter the marekting mix or what affects the implimentation of our marketing mix on the environment/market at hand. This movie should show forth some real truths of how we are all manipulated into thinking certain ideals about some of the most basic commodities....food.
- Enjoy!
Week Update - Wednesday Personal Finance Continued
- you should have worked through the Personal Finance (Virtual Business) at the very least Lesson #1. If you did not get to finish, there may be time after the video to do it then. Please do not be ignorant and a bit stupid as to do it through the video.
- Today you will be watching The Secret Life of the Credit Card. What is more liberating than to immediately gratify yourself by using "plastic" to get what you want. This, in no small part, was a deciding factor to the overall housing crisis we experienced and still are experiencing. More to come off of that.
- Concerning the video - The Secret Life of the Credit Card
Your student ID # (lunch number) will guide you to the appropriate question.
Find the 5th number of your Student #. If 1-5, you have your question #.
If 6-9, subtract 5 and there is your number - Video itself - don't worry, it will be shown up on the board. The link is provided if you feel gumption to look at it later at home.
- Questions as you go - click hereBe prepared to give account as to the answer of assigned question.
- Explore this companion site. Read over the answers to better understand what the credit cards have done
- Cultural Divide - How other countries handle their consumer debt.
- If there is time after you watch the video, do the "Questions as you go", explore the companion site, and read the Cultural Divide - then you may go finish your lesson #1/ Lesson #2. If you have to stop before finished, you can save the game at that time. There is the Lesson #1 (or 2,3,4 etc) online when you open up the lesson itself. You read through the tutorial, you can find it. remember that this still counts as a grade for the time I cannot be with you.

So what about the real economic impact of an event.
Seeing that it is Halloween (bwah ah ah ha h ah ah ha ha - Thunder/lightening), I want to know the economic impact of Halloween. Clearly there must be economic justification to themadness we endure every year.
In fact, while we are on this subject, What was the economic impact of the Furniture market to our city/region?

Welcome in to a wonderful day. Hopefully Tennis will begin today and the Conference matches will complete with the SW ladies coming out victoriously in the end.
As in everyday I cannot make it with you, therein lies a contract, an agreement concerning my expectations for the day on your behalf.
Play nicely with the activity I left you and be rewarded...a bonus quiz, test, etc.
Play poorly and there will be dire consequences.
If the teacher has to put your name down on paper or talk with me concerning your behavior upon my return, Mr Murphy will be none too happy. Neither will you when I see you next. Be what I know each of you can be, the success I know you are today.
HSM
So as not to burn time off of our already short semester together, in my absence, on my birthday, I left you an assessment as I have promised. Your half or front sheet in hand, you should have no problem working through the material presented.
Upon half way through, you should begin to wonder why you didn't read the material, instead, took the easy way out by cramming and copying another person's notes. Oh well!
In my absence, today will also have it reward. You will be rewarded for doing well today and not disturbing the powers that be.
As always, have fun.

Would be at the expense of two?

At church on sunday to attend
Will serve to keep the world thy friend;
Honour thy parents; that is, all

Officiously to keep alive:
Do not adultery commit;
Advantage rarely comes of it;
Thou shalt not steal; an empty feat,
When it's so lucrative to cheat;

History will see advertising "as one of the real evil things of our time. It is stimulating people constantly to want things, want this, want that."

First we thought the PC was a calculator. Then we found out how to turn numbers into letters with ASCII - and we thought it was a typewriter. Then we discovered graphics, and we thought it was a television. With the World Wide Web, we've realized it's a brochure.

We have begun the journey of our own selves by discussing the finer points or Morals, ethics and standards. We have also seen thhe emergence of ethics in the workplace (code of ethics)simple because people, if left to their own devices, cannot be trusted implicitly.
We now journey past the initial value systems we have and into the heart of the matter of what it is that ultimately guides (decides) our buying behavior.
We understand that the 4 P's of marketing is the only thing that we as Marketers can ever change to get the Target Market to want...desire...act upon in the form of "buying" (ideas or products).
Now we get to explore more in depth as to the buying decisions that ultimately lead us to perceive the image we have of ourselves and of others.
