SEMII

Though starting slowly this semester, we have explored: -the basis of events in general -the costs associated with going to an actual event -and lastly, the "Economic Impact of..." many of the events you have seen on TV. Today we will finish the "Economic Impact of" and begin the journey through actual coursework within the realm of Sports and Entertainment Marketing. But before we do,

(a)
     (1) Thinking back to the event at the Time Warner Cable Arena (Bobcat Game), how did attending the game affect your family’s finances?
     (2) Clearly the game was theoretical, but had it been for real real, and not pretend, think about where you and your family is right now, would the trip have even been possible?
     (3) Think further then and describe what sacrifices (financial ability) must occur to accommodate one game, 5 games, season tickets.
     (4) Can the avg Joe really afford to attend professional sports?
     (5) Is there another venue/avenue (entertainment choice) to suffice the avg Joe then if this is too costly? Give me ideas.

(b)
Let's think Sponsorships.  In our first activity we listed the things required for an event.  Finances/Money/Capital  all were answers you as a class knew that were needed to pull it off.  Sponsorships can be this influx of cash to help or to totally cover the entire cost of doing business.

     (1) What are Sponsorships?
     (2) Peruse through the internet and find 5 venues in the state of North Carolina and 2 venues outside of North Carolina and tell me about the sponsorship deals that were struck to help justify the financial viability of the venue's operating budget.
     (3) Next, fins three events (of not) and tell me about the sponsorship deals that were struck to help justify the financial viability of the event's operating budget.
     (4) Finally, Tell me about 3 individual sponsorships (Athletes or personas).  Must be from separate sports.
