November 19, 2012 - Hostess, an indepth look

Friday marked a notable death in the family of frivolous bad-for-you snack cakes.  Hostess, the home of Twinkie the Kid, Captain Cupcake. Wonder Bread, and 269 other trademarks announced the closing of their plants and selling off of all assets (including intellectual property).

Let's understand the what......go to Hostessbrands.com and see for your self.

Hearing it straight from the CEO, let's listen in on the discussion...Hostess video

SEMII
As you can clearly gain evidence from the class and life, everything can really be considered an event.  If this is true, and it is, (#1) going back to Objective 4.....setting up an event, tell me of the risks that laid hold of Hostess Brands and became it's eventual downfall......all that apply please.

(#2) What now?  Seeing that this company will not be going forward in the same sense that it has been, picture yourself as the CEO...tell me what we, the employees are suppose to do now.  Tell me what measures you have in place to protect the good name of Hostess and its 269 trademarks.  Tell me what can we we have we can sell and at least recoup some of the $ we lost on this deal.

Quiz after we discuss Hostess on 5.01

A peek into 5.02...actually we will do most of 5.02 today.

Reading above and watching the video, what now?

As the manager/CEO, what can we do?  Think back to the chapter on Products....think back to the opening foray into this class with SBU's and Stars, Cash Cows, Prob Children, Dogs, what now?

As a marketing director for the company, what could you have done to ensure the success of your company?  Remember the three ways to more $.....plus ten points to the person who writes it down and hands it to me with all three correct.

Finish Chap 18.

A word from Seth Godin.....
