Huh: So the majority of you voted internet freedom trumps business rights per yesterday's discussion. Let's go deeper into this one.

Say you own a website that hosts people's opinions and social etc.

A small, but growing population begin attacking your stance, your culture, your family through malicious posts.  Not bullying, but clearly spreading false rumors and general malaise about you and yours.

Let's also say these are false statements they are posting, and that are spreading....what do you think of censorship now?

2.01 Understanding consumer and business buying behavior
EQ What influences consumers to make a purchase?
How do consumer and business buying behavior compare?

Goals

As a discussion starter, discuss products students frequently purchase.  Discussion starters include:

What do they buy?
Why do they buy the product?
How much do they buy?
When do they buy?

Look over the vocabulary for Chap 5

Facilitate a discussion using slides 24-71 of the Chapter 5 PowerPoint.

-
Divide the class into groups of 2-3.  Give each group one of the following different vehicle types: mini-van, pick up truck, SUV, and sports car.

Have groups list specific examples of the personal factors of potential consumers for each of the assigned vehicle in the appropriate column on the Personal Factors Chart located in the Instructional Materials folder.

Have the groups briefly present their examples as a class discussion.  Students should fill in the remaining columns on the chart as each is discussed.

Finally, discuss the similarities and differences of each vehicle choice based on personal factors.

RESOURCES:  Personal Factors Chart

-In groups of 2-3, have students pick a product of their choice (teacher should approve of the product before next steps) and write a ½ page paper comparing how culture, sub-culture, and social class might alter the way that product would be marketed.

Facilitate a discussion using slides 4-38 of the Chapter 6 PowerPoint.

-Have students assume they are the manager of a local gift shop.

Have them list three products/services that would be considered a straight re-buy, three that might be a modified re-buy, and three that might be a new buy or task.

As a class, discuss these products/services and why each would be classified as a modified re-buy, and three that might be a new buy or task.
